Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
Wai-o-Tapu Thermal Wonderland is New Zealand's most colourful geothermal attraction.
Explore a spectacular landscape sculpted over thousands of years by natural geothermal activity, where unique volcanic features can be viewed so close you can feel the steam and heat that rises from deep within the earth.
A variety of walks allows visits to Wai-o-Tapu to take as little as 30 minutes, but we encourage you to stay longer and explore further – you won't be disappointed! You'll want to have your cameral ready for features such as the Lady Knox Geyser erupting daily at 10.15am, the naturally coloured hot and cold springs, bubbling mud pools, steaming caves, expansive vistas, huge volcanic craters, sinter terraces, and of course, the world-famous Champagne Pool.
Hungry or looking for a momento of your visit? The visitor centre has you sorted with a café, outdoor picnic area, and retail shop. Last entry to the park is 3pm.

A daily shuttle service is available (excluding Christmas Day and New Year's Day), leaving at 9am from Rotorua isite Visitor Information Centre at 1167 Fenton Street, and returning to isite by 1.30pm. For more info, terms and conditions, and bookings, click here.
