Hinehopu Reserve

Public Places & Spaces / East

At the eastern end of Lake Rotoiti is Hinehopu Reserve, well-known for shoreline fishing.

The Hinehopu/Hongi Track borders the reserve and highlights the area's incredible native forest and cultural importance. There's also a beautiful beach at Korokitewao Bay on Lake Rotoiti for swimming and picnicking.

During December and February, water skiing is allowed on the lake.

Facilities include children's playground, barbecues, picnic tables, toilet facility, and a boat ramp.

The walkway and the bush area are administered by the Department of Conservation (DOC).

Remember to take care of our beautiful environment, and to dispose of all rubbish responsibly.
