City Books & Lotto
Shopping & Markets / Central
A 100% locally owned and operated bookstore located on Tūtānekai Street in the heart of Rotorua.
City Books & Lotto offers a range of fiction, non-fiction and children’s books, as well as magazines, greeting cards, office and school stationery.
The shop is also a stockist of Crucci and Woolly ranges of New Zealand wool.
City Books & Lotto began their journey in May 2007 when Kirsty Evans returned from overseas and bought the store which at that time was part of a franchise. They went independent in 2016 and have enjoyed the freedom to stock and run the business as we have wished.
City Books is a family-run business. Kirsty’s sister Raeleen is her very able assistant. The women both love books and were brought up with a love of reading. They can recommend a wide range of authors as between their families, they have extended whānau from a young baby through to siblings in their 60s and 70s.
Over the years they have had the pleasure of hosting a number of authors either in-store or at events, with the most recent being a book launch in October for Rotorua author Carole Pepperell.
